Our client had a challenge they had been trying to resolve for some time: “we cannot confidently state what impact any specific marketing intervention has on revenue.”

While they had invested heavily in technology, there was no easy way to deliver robust reporting. Our brief was simple: why is this so hard, what are the blockers to success, and how do we solve them?

Our process enabled us to map data flows from point of capture, through processing steps to repository, highlighting platforms involved at each stage. We identified ‘breaks’ in data connectivity and data duplicates in different systems that resulted in a lack of any single view. Inconsistency in the structure or values of data resulted in reporting being a manual effort with data being ‘stitched together from different systems.

Our solution created a system map to streamline the role of platforms – and highlight redundant platforms. It provided a blueprint for consistent data capture (profile and behavioural) and ensured relevant data was surfaced in the reporting platform to drive reports and dashboards.
